SaltySeal's SealStory Guide Created: May 2020 Last Update: July 2023 Introduction: Welcome to my guide for SealStory! Iris made a guide that you can find here, however, I decided to make my own since I feel that hers is a little outdated. I would like to provide more information and hopefully get some more Seals out in the world. What is SealStory? SealStory is MapleSaga's answer for people who enjoy playing a specific Maplestory odd job: Islander. An Islander is a permanent Beginner character that stays on Maple Island. SealStory is basically an expansion of this so you aren't stuck on Maple Island fighting Orange Mushrooms and Pigs for all eternity. Keep in mind, you will not be able to see or interact with "regular" players outside of buddy/whisper/guild/etc. chat. You can't go to FM or any "regular" maps. How do I join? Create a new character like normal. You'll spawn outside the Training Camp. Talk to Sera to enter the training camp. She'll be waiting for you inside. Continue talking to her (there's a lot of dialogue) until you can join SealStory. Click yes to enter SealStory and become a Seal. The Internet Cafe The Internet Cafe is the main hub for Seals. When you first spawn here, you will get your special Seal weapon: a Frozen Tuna! It has 87 Weapon Attack and 100 scrolling slots available. There are 4 NPCs here, all very important: The Gachapon is pretty straightforward. Mobs in SealStory have a small chance to drop a Gacha ticket, which you can redeem with this NPC. Here you can get various equips and scrolls. Dachi sells scrolls to power up your Frozen Tuna as well as chairs only available from SealStory. More on those later. Food Stamps are the currency of SealStory. Every mob drops 1. He also sells various items that you can buy with the gems dropped from bosses. More on the gems and bosses later. You can find the item descriptions here: Spoiler: Dachi items Hot Dog: Recovers 300 HP. Dexterity Pill: Avoidability +10 for 10 minutes. Ice Cream Pop: Recovers 2000 HP. Speed Pill: Increased speed (+10) for 10 minutes. Hot Dog Supreme: Recovers 500 HP. Warrior Pill: Attack +5 for 10 minutes. Dried Squid: Recovers 600 HP. Heartstopper: Gives +60 Weapon Attack, +60 Speed, +60 Avoidability for 1 minute. Daku sells potions and takes you to the Hall of Seals, where Seals that reached level 70 are recognized, and the Hideout, where you can talk to Tia, Susan, Mailbox, and Duey. The potions restore 20% HP/MP, 30%, 40%, 50%, and 60%, respectively. Here's a look at the Hall of Seals. I'm totally not including this to humble brag my being there. Spoiler: Hall of Seals As of November 2020: The Computer is how you move to the maps you can train in. When you first start out as a Seal, you only have access to Small Forest Trail. Small Forest Trail | Unlocks at Level 1 Relaxing Harbor | Unlocks at Level 10 Another Sanctuary | Unlocks at Level 20 | Has secret portals Dry Rocky Mountain | Unlocks at Level 25 | Has secret portal Dangerous Ant-Hole | Unlocks at Level 30 | Has portals Windy Terrace | Unlocks at Level 35 | Has portal The Monkey Forest | Unlocks at Level 40 | Has secret portal The Chilly Hill | Unlocks at Level 50 | Has portal Boss Info Here are the bosses in SealStory at the moment. Every map has a boss, and each boss drops a gem you can use to buy items from Dachi. Mano, Lv. 20 | 20,000 HP | Located in Small Forest Trail | Drops Garnet King Slime, Lv. 40 | 8,000 HP | Located in Relaxing Harbor | Drops Emerald Mushmom, Lv. 60 | 20,000 HP | Located in Breathing Sanctuary II (from Another Sanctuary) | Drops Topaz Stumpy, Lv. 10 | 135,000 HP | Located in Dry Rocky Mountain II | Drops Opal Jr. Balrog, Lv. 55 | 600,000 HP | Located in Cargo Hunting Ground (from Dangerous Ant-Hole) | Drops Black Crystal Timer, Lv. 59 | 735,000 HP | Located in Windy Terrace II | Drops Aquamarine Faust, Lv. 50 | 535,000 HP | Located in The Monkey Forest | Drops Amethyst Snowman, Lv. 90 | 120,000 HP | Located in The Chilly Cliff | Drops Diamond Skill Build Don't get Three Snails. Ultimately this really doesn't matter, but I'd personally recommend Nimble Feet and Recovery. AP Build Seals need STR to hit harder and DEX to hit accurately. I would suggest putting points in your DEX until your minimum damage is 80, so you can 1-hit Orange Mushrooms, the first mob you will be facing. Supposedly, 110 accuracy is enough to hit all the bosses without missing, so I would keep that in mind (although I have not confirmed this acc myself). A lot of your STR/WA will come from upgrading your Frozen Tuna, so unless you are really trying to maximize your damage, I would recommend DEX until you have an accuracy you're happy with. FAQ Can I remove the Seal Suit override? As of right now, no. Do Seals retain EXP on death like Beginners? Yes. How do I ship out a Seal cushion to one of my other characters? Talk to Duey in the secret hideout map. You can go there by talking to Daku in the Internet Cafe. Can I use a pet? You can, but there's no point. Food Stamps and Gacha tickets are Cash items, so pets cannot pick them up for you. Where should I train? What's the best strategy? The best answer is whatever feels easiest for you. You don't have access to a lot of maps or mobs, so train on whatever you feel is fastest. You unlock the Dry Rocky Mountain map at level 25, which has the Stumpy boss. Bosses are the best way to get experience in SealStory. Farm Stumpy a lot. The "best" general answer I can give here is to grind until you can take on bosses and then farm bosses. SealStory is a grind, so good luck. Can 2x coupons be used? Yes. Can Seals use medals? Yes. You need a "regular" character to get the medal you want and put it in your cash shop inventory. Your Seal can grab it from there. Why should I play SealStory? Assuming you don't want to play just for the fun of it, or it doesn't interest you, there are a couple things to benefit your "regular" MapleSaga characters. There are 6 medals to earn in SealStory. You get these from reaching level 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. These do not provide any prestige stats, unfortunately. The main pull of SealStory is to purchase the Grey, Pink, Blue, White, and/or Gold Seal Cushions from Dachi. These chairs can be sent to your other characters by talking to Duey in the Seal Hideout. You could probably sell them for a pretty penny. Tip I couldn't fit anywhere else Check all channels in the Internet Cafe! Seals will drop their unwanted items in this room, and you might find better equipment for yourself. Conclusion Seals are cool. In all seriousness, I will try to keep this up to date as best as I can and answer any questions! In SealStory's history, certain maps, mobs, and bosses have changed. There used to be a boss in the Relaxing Harbor, for example, that provided pretty good experience but is no longer around. If any information is incorrect, I apologize! He might be thinking about the White Yeti and King Pepe boss that used to spawn in The Chilly Hill. It's been removed. I have never defeated Snowman. He hits me for 1k damage, and supposedly gives less exp than Stumpy.
ahh i see. that is difference. may i know how many dex you have? i may consider to wash my dex since i only have 4, we can make a party and defeat the boss !
I'm at 119 base dex, 152 total dex. I could beat Snowman if I had the potions, I just don't want to buy any lol
Tried to start a Seal but Sera doesn't have any dialogue once entering the tutorial stage. Is there some prerequisite to get her to talk? Spoiler
You have to keep talking to her over and over. Eventually she will prompt you with whether you want to enter SealStory or not.

The quantity of pills/Heartstoppers available for trade have been increased to 3 from 2 (150% increase). These include Dexterity, Speed and Warrior Pills, as well as Heartstoppers. SealStory was opened 2 days ago on our sister server, SecretMS (Chinese version of MapleSaga).
