Indeed thanks for sharing @SecondSky ! Really glad to hear your setup is performing well, and also its caveats.
This is a wonderful guide, but unfortunately I'm running into the exact same problem that @peachr is having. I'm able to log on but as soon as I select my character, the game freezes. I've run through the steps and redownloaded MapleSaga.exe many times, so I'm fairly certain that I'm following the directions correctly. Saga works fine on my Windows running on Parallels. I'm running Big Sur 11.1. I've tried: running Saga with logs turned on in Crossover, but the logs don't seem to have anything meaningful in it around the freeze enabling full disk access for Crossover turning Firewall off There are numerous other "Game Freezes During Character Selection" issues on past Saga posts, but none of those talk about the actual causes and the only solution prescribed was to "redownload the game". Anything I can do to debug this? I'm puzzled at why I'm able to log on but not select my character. I would assume I'm not dealing with network / firewall issues since I'm at least able to log on.
Hey @DavidNL , I'm equally perplexed as well. My options to debug these issues are as limited as yours, but it's good to know that there are multiple occurrences of the same issue. Curious, does your MapleSaga application status still show "running" even during the freeze? We can open up the task manager to inspect that:
Hmm, I would try to "Simulate Reboot" on the bottle, but no guarantee that this would resolve the issue. It's the icon right next to the task manager.
Hey guys, I had the character selection freeze issue. Got it fixed by re-enabling Performance Enhanced Graphics. Try it out!
Great pointer @jtuff ! Tips to disable "disable performance enhanced graphics" I'll insert a disclaimer under that section.
hey, can know your settings or configuration? My .exe always crashes on my M1 Mac. it also crashes whenever I try to switch to windowed mode instead of full screen
Just wanted to come back to this thread and mention that this past week or so, I have been able to MCPQ smoothly on Crossover with no disruptions or D/Cs. If I do remember, I do @toggleanim, but otherwise, I usually do not have to @toggleanim. As for raids, the only one I D/C in was reg Zak (but this has happened before using Bootcamp as well) and on rare occasion in HT, but all other raids from Scar/TB/Toad/Czak, I have not experienced any D/C from these raids yet. Hope this helps! *Will come back to this thread if I have any other updates* Note: Currently still running Catalina on my MacBook Pro 2015 with Retina (I have yet to update to Big Sur)
Is anyone able to use the HD client through CrossOver? This error popped up when I tried to open up the client, based on the instructions from this guide. My Macbook's resolution is larger than 1280x800. @alex said that the error might have to do something with the resolution that CrossOver has set. And although my Mac’s resolution is 2880 x 1800, the resolution on CrossOver might be smaller. Please let me know if anyone has a solution to this
The other v62 server who has adopted CrossOver also does not have a working HD client past 1024x768 resolution. It appears that the internal resolution for CrossOver is not 1280x800 or higher, even though your Mac resolution is.
@smexybunny posted a guide on how to extend your CrossOver free trial indefinitely: https://forums.maplesaga.com/index.php?threads/macos-hack-crossover-for-unlimited-trial-days.21310/ @Lafaeru, would you be open to adding these steps to your guide?
Gladly @alex @SecondSky I haven't got HD running yet, tried with different combinations, e.g. enabling 'High Resolution Mode' on the bottle in CrossOver, installing DirectX, installing DXVK .. (nerd), getting the same error on Gr2D.
Thanks for taking the time to write this guide! Been trying to get it to work the pass few days, unfortunately it keeps crashing. Sometimes at the login, at times the select character, and sometimes I make it in the game for a few minutes and it crashes. Im using a M1 MacBook Air 2020, OSX 11.3 I followed the steps carefully here's what I have tried. - Made sure I followed step 3 of this guide ( Replacing the ws2 files) - disabling the performance enhanced graphics (Enabling it too doesn't help) - installed the 1280 x 800 (instead of the 800 x 600) - I also tried installing the Sierra client - switch to windows xp and others instead of windows 98 Is there anything else that I can do?
Thanks for this guide. I've just started playing for a couple days and it generally works great. I'd also like to report a couple issues I've encountered that causes client freeze: 1. Someone (need not be yourself) using flash fist on mob (there doesn't seem to be an issue when it's used without hitting a mob) >> When doing PQ, ask the pirates not to use flash fist lol 2. Using pet food on a brown puppy (do not have sufficient nx to test on other pets. Giff refund pls T.T) 3. Hitting cloud foxes in zipangu. (Hitting and missing seems to be fine, but once damage is dealt the client will freeze) >> Trailblazer quest needs 700 of their tails sadge The above issues are reproducible for me. Am using 2019 MacBook Pro, Big Sur 11.3.1, Crossover 20.0.4 Hopefully these are helpful to someone. Would be great if someone can try reproducing issues 2 and 3, and maybe add to known issues if confirmed?
I re-look at step 3 but I experienced the same issue as well. I am able to see the MapleSaga icon on the dock, but there's no windows nor a black screen appear. Need some help please.
Update: Have gotten enough NX to buy a new pet, and 2 doesn't occur for husky. Note to mac users: Don't buy a brown puppy
